Documentary and Presentation Series
The Language and Life Project is proud to collaborate with Wake County Public Libraries throughout the month of September to bring you an expert-led presentation on documentaries as a medium, followed by screenings of three Talking Black in America Films.
The presentation – Documenting the Community: Beyond the Screen – will kick off the collaborative series on September 8, 2024 at 2pm by exploring the use and power of documentaries as a medium for storytelling and community engagement. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn and discuss the role documentaries play in education and activism.
On the following consecutive Sundays at 2pm, you will be able to view Talking Black in America – Roots (9/15), Signing Black in America (9/22), and Talking Black in America: Performance Traditions (9/29) – followed by a collaborative Q&A session with Language and Life Project producers and staff. The presentation and the screenings will take place at the Oberlin Regional Library (1930 Clark Ave., Raleigh, NC 27605).
